Nintendo 3DS sales decline, hold No. 1 in Japan

Sales for Nintendo Co.?s Nintendo 3DS held the top sales rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 63,669 units between Oct. 1 and Oct. 6 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 80,175 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked two titles in top 10, including Style Savvy: Trend Setters at No. 6 and New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 7.

The Nintendo DS sold 674 units for the week.

The Nintendo 3DS sold 1.9 million units in the first quarter, an increase from 710,000 units the year prior at a $249 launch price.

The handheld has sold 19 million units to date.

Nintendo launched the Nintendo 3DS handheld with 18 software titles Mar. 27.

The hardware includes two screens, a 3D Depth Slider, a Circle Pad, a 2GB SD Card and 3-D display technology that does not require the use of special glasses.
